Why Christian Men Have the Wrong Jesus
Dear Pastor,
As we announced a couple of weeks ago, we are beginning a new ministry venture reaching out to men, specifically. Below is our latest teaching effort on YouTube.
We’d really appreciate it if you would watch the video, click the “Like” thumbs up, and subscribe. It will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time.
If you want to help even more, please share the video with men in your congregation!
Video Notes: The modern church has accidentally produced two false Jesuses. The Soft Jesus of evangelical drift — endlessly accommodating, never confrontational, essentially a therapist with a beard. And the Angry Jesus of certain online corners of Christian masculinity — the warrior, the culture-fighter, the one who is mostly remembered for the temple and the whip. Both are caricatures. Neither is the actual Christ of Scripture.
In this teaching from Anvil & Word, we walk through Revelation 5 — where John is promised the Lion of the tribe of Judah and instead sees a wounded Lamb. Same Christ. Both at once. The strength and the tenderness are not in tension. They are the same thing, expressed differently.
Three things to see: the two false Jesuses, the Lion-and-the-Lamb paradox at the heart of heaven, and what it means for Christian men who have been told to be one without the other.
This is a teaching for Christian men who are tired of being asked to choose between half a Christ and half a Christ.
